You can use the Flash 8 ActiveX control in Authorware...

For example, if you are applying filters in the property inspector and you
publish to Flash 6 you get an error that that feature is not supported and you
must target Flash 8. Other things like codecs (On2 VP6 does not support Flash 6
output) are a hassle but you can use Sorenson instead.

As for transparency, we still use the Asset Xtra for Flash 6, We were just
hoping there was a workaround with Active X with 8 files which we decided to
just add the background layer in Flash anyway.

Its now down to what approach we use in creating our work, I don't claim to be
an expert yet but look forward to any advice that makes the job easier.

It's pretty clear-cut - if the transparency is essential, then you cannot
use features specific to Flash 7 or later, and you have to use the Asset
Xtra.

Is there something specific about the filters you want to use that you
cannot live without?

Is there any reason why you cannot copy your Authorware background into
Flash to give the illusion of transparency?

I have been aware of the limitations for some time now and the posting was
really out of frustration because we started using authorware to do a series of
projects and now realizing that we face the possibility of having to switch
applications midstream.

I forgot to mention here in this forum that we are using ActiveX control to
import Flash 8 files but cant seem to get a transparent background, you know,
like black text on a plain white bg, get the white to drop out showing a
graphic layer under that... some advice on how, if possible to get this would
be helpful.

Cheers,
Gary

You cannot get transparency with ActiveX. You can only get transparency with
Flash 6 or earlier in the Asset Xtra.

What are you doing that requires Flash 8?
