I have inherited some flash .swf files that have a call to a .php file
embedded in them - they run for a few seconds and then load the .php page.
I'm replacing the php with asp. Whithout spending any money or having to
learn a whole lot about flash, is there a simple and free .swf editor that
will let me change or remove the loading of the php document?

To do this you will need the source (.fla) files, you can then download
the trial version of Flash 8 and edit these files as needed.
