add / remove specific commands from path on-the-fly
Oftentimes I install packages with commands that I don't use very often (Distro:RHEL). I want to have their commands in my path only on explicit toggling. Say, package foo has foo_cmd1 foo_cmd2 etc. and it unnecessary clutters my "tab-completion-list" to have them list each time I do a f-Tab. I want to includ... 25 Jun 2008 16:02

How to remove specific file extensions recursively in subdirectories?
Nicole wrote: You were right, 1PW! Dan from comp.unix.shell suggested: find /dir/hier/archy -type f -print0 | xargs -0 rename _.don "" find /dir/hier/archy -type f -print0 | xargs -0 rename .don "" and it worked like a charm, a perfect solution to that problem! how to (r)sync group-ownerships?
I just moved a bunch of files from one system to another using tar/gzip. Now after unpacking and modifying I realized that on a small number of files the group-ownership is wrong (some strange bug in tar/gzip I guess cause this didnt happen the first time). So now I just want to sync (probably with rsync) the... 23 Jun 2008 13:45
