What to backup on a Linux system an what not? I want to backup my Linux system (with rsync). What is recommended to backup and what not? Of cause, all the personal stuff should be saved but what about the "normal" system stuff of the OS? Which of the files, dirs and settings should be backuped? How to let gcc to use a different 'as' for compiling assembly code? As we know when given a .s file gcc will call as to compile it gcc -v -c -g -O2 conftest.s as --gdwarf2 -a32 -mppc -many -V -Qy -o conftest.o conftest.s I am wondering if I can force gcc to use 'as' in a specific path. virtualization & running processes on the host started by guest In my office everything is windows XP based. So I decided to have XUbuntu in a VirtualBox. Within XUbuntu, I would do most of my tasks. However, compiling debugging and running the application we program I have to do within XP.
