confusing behaviour of the * wildcard when handling "dot" files and dirs. I tried going to /home/foouser/ and then doing a 'chown -R foouser *' It seems to change the ownership recursively for all dirs and files under /home/foouser/ except those starting with a . mysqld wont start... System has been fine for several years. Last few days very hot, many electricity supply problems..whole debian etch box crashed..CPU red hot, blew dust out and now it all works except mysqld wont start.. can't seem to find any log files to indicate what might be wrong..it just says 'FAILED... Nokia phone via USB ??? I have a USB cable for my Nokia phone.
