I just downloade Granular Linux (a PCLinuxOS clone) and Duh!!!

The LiveCD downloaded, burned and booted just fine. Went to access the
internet and found they had included "madwifi_kernel" which a very polite
note tells me is required but not included in the software but can be
downloaded from the repository. Of course, you know where the repository
is . . .

DUH!!!!

Most likely they count that people will use the wired connection during
the first stage, if you lack a tp-cable, you can borrow one from me.

This lets me "assume" ...

- you are using a laptop of unknown brand
- you are a home user
- you access the internet using broadband and a wireless router
- you forgot the wireless router also has (usually 4) nice rj45/tp sockets
at the backside
- you either are a wheelie or have your laptop glued to the desktop which is
heavy enough and standing in another room with at least 2 doors (but only
paperthin walls, otherwise wireless would be a problem) in between
- rj45/tp network cables are dead cheap
:-)

You all missed the point. Yes, I both have and could have used an ethernet
cable. The point is, "I should not have to."

I keep wondering when folks are going to wake up to the fact that the most
important set of apps in any distro are the internet connectivity apps.

Well, then fine. Try the same with windows.
No, you misplaced the driver cd that came with your wireless card.
