I purchased a network attached storage device called a Lan Drive model
HD9-U2LA and I think it was from RJTech but the documentation indicates
it is a USBEX device (http://www.usbex.com/landrive)

The drive is either a network device or a USB device (not both at
once). It works, but I have a few issues.

First off, when you connect to it, it rarely shows you all the files
immediately uppon connecting. You have to wait a second or two and hit
F5 in Wondows to refresh the view and then it shows everything.

I would like to get newer firmware, but the site mentioned above seems
to have the firmware removed.

Has anybody else had any experience with this device and if so have
they found newer firmware or a way to prevent the initial view from
being incomplete?

Thanks.

That sounds very much like a problem with WIndows, not the device.

Firmware should only be updated if there is a real problem. Do you
have one?

The obvious way to check that is to boot knoppix from
a CD and see if you get the same effect with that.
