Please help!!

My computer crashed and I had to restore factory settings. I am trying
to get my computer back to what it was but am finding it extremely
difficult.

My computer will not prompt me to run/install activeX controls (usually
a yellow banner underneath main toolbar) therefor I am unable to
download the flash player or shockwave player that I require from
macromedia.

Please someone help as I'm going stir crazy trying to resolve this
problem!!!
