From: Paolo Cipollone on 2 Jan 2008 09:36 Hi all, I've been recently trying to run the HP-41E emulator on my 50G. It seems to run fine -the emulated 41 even accepts synthetic instructions-, but in program mode it does weird things. If I try to enter a line more than 5 or 6 characters long, I get at the fifth or sixth place a 6 and the line stops there. I tried to run the emulator directly from the SD card, from the Home directory through the VAR menu, all to no avail. That is, the emulator starts perfectly, the 41 works fine in 'direct' mode, but not in program mode. Since I am new to both the 41 and the 50 I am probably doing something wrong. Any help? Thanks in advance, Paolo Cipollone

To run from SD card put HP41EA or whatever on SD, then create a small UserRPL script to run it: <<:3:HP41EA EVAL>> For programming I use my PC. I compile to RAW with HP41UC, then load up the RAM image with RAW41, then copy that to my 50g current (not SD) directory.

If you want to construct longer strings simply add the smaller strings together. Concatenation is the 50 cent word for it (or .25 Euro I guess). The HP museum sells a DVD with lots of HP stuff on it, including most of the user manuals, which has the excellent manuals for the 41 series. Here are some links. http://www.hpmuseum.org/hp41.htm http://www.hpmuseum.org/cd/cddesc.htm

I checked of course the behavior of V41 and there everything is OK. Actually, since I am thinking to get a real 41, I want to give it a try. Anyone experienced the same things? Thanks in advance, Paolo Cipollone

Its most likely a bug with 41E. I would suggest that you program offline and compile with HP41UC /RAW41 and then transfer to the 50g. Or, pay for the 41X and get support.
