I have the A7V8X-X motherboard. I also have a WD 250 GB hard drive.
Computer is only recognizing 127GB hard drive. Does this motherboard
support large hard drives and if so how can I get mine to recognize it.
I'm a newby so go easy. Thanks for the help.

This board supports larger than 128GB drives without issues.
By "Computer is recognizing" you probably mean "OS is recognizing". For
larger than 128GB drives you need lba-48 support. For windows 2k, SP3 is
required, along with some registry fiddling, for windows XP SP1 should
do (though may corrupt data with hibernation, SP2 strongly recommended
anyway for other reasons too).

Hello.
I was looking at the www.bootdisk.com website recently, and I think that
they have some software there which _might_ help you.

Sylvain.

You would have to update the motherboard's BIOS in order to use a harddrive
larger than 137 GB.

No. According to asus, all boards manufactured after 1st jan 2003
support hds larger than 137 GB without updating the bios - and the
a7v8x-x (in contrast to the a7v8x) was released half a year later I
believe (though not sure).
Not that it wouldn't hurt, if windows is new enough and it still doesn't
work it's certainly worth a try.
