From: daviddschool on 13 May 2008 12:35 I am a little confused. On my master slide, I included headers and footers. It works great for all the new slides I have created after that - BUT, when I OMIT MASTER GRAPHIC (FORMAT>BACKGROUND), the header and footer disappears from the slide - I am taking a class in this - so this isn't an isolated instance, almost all of the class had the same issue using 2003. Is this a bug? is there a way to fix this? I know that if I UNCHECK the OMIT MASTER GRAPHIC the footer reappears, but why would it do that? Thanks

It's not a bug, it's the way it's supposed to work, though the label on that option is a bit misleading. When you choose the option it actually omits EVERYTHING from the master slide, not just "graphics" ----------------------------------------- Steve Rindsberg, PPT MVP PPT FAQ: www.pptfaq.com PPTools: www.pptools.com ================================================
From: daviddschool on 14 May 2008 18:56 Thank you. Is there anyway to fix this? If I wanted a master slide with the header and footer, but not the graphic? From: Kathy Jacobs on 14 May 2008 20:21 Personally, I would create a second master slide set that has the header and footer, but no graphic. You can then apply that master explicitly to the slides that need to have the header and footer, but not the graphic. To create the new master, go to the Master Slide View (View --> Slides--> Slide Master), select the current master slide and insert a duplicate master. On that master, remove your graphic. To use the master, return to normal (editing) view. Select the slides you want to use the second master. Bring up the Design task pane. Click the drop down arrow next to the master slide without the graphic. From the list, select "Apply to selected slides".
