From: Frank on 28 Jan 2007 13:39 I don't know if it's me, my video card or the screwed up way you've got to install the drivers and software for this card! I've been at this 3 days now, and I'm still stuck. It seems to me that the last good working set-up was Catalyst 6.2 and MMC9.08. I made the mistake of trying to 'upgrade' to the latest software, Catalyst 7.1 and MMC9.16. I got the 'TV' to work, but some of the 'premium' cable channels that MMC9.08 played, no longer come up as 'found' doing an auto channel search. They don't even play when trying to manually input the channels either. Another thing is the picture quality sucks. Very pixilated. Also, I'm using a Creative SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 card and I have the 9600XT plugged into the card 2 ways, an internal cable from the ATI card to the AUX port on the SB card, and the external 'line out' wire from the ATI card to the 'line in' socket on the SB card. This 'hook-up' was necessary for sound using the separate 'WDM' drivers. Once I installed the 'new' ATI T200 Unified AVStream Driver', I had to go to the configuration settings on the SB card and shut off the AUX and Line in features because static/sound plays all the time. What's up with that? Right now, I'm once again scouring thru the registry to get rid of anything ATI because even with using ATI's 'removal' program, nothing works right after a 're-installation' unless I get rid of everything. ...... I think it may be time for a new video card from a company that understands software ......... Frank "God made Grass & Man made Booze... Who can you trust?"

MMC 9.16 was released with Catalyst 6.12; it didn't get updated when Catalyst 7.1 was released. Any time you have an integrated tuner, the tuner software doesn't get updated at the same time as the core graphics drivers, so you end up with version mismatches. (Remember the 3dfx Voodoo3 3500TV? It had similar issues.) Uninstall everything, then install Catalyst 6.12 with MMC 9.16 and see if that helps. Maybe it is time to get a separate tunercard like the LeadTek WinfastTV. After all, ATi has given up on the AIW line, and nVidia is smart enough to avoid these integrated designs altogether. > "God made Grass & Man made Booze... Who can you trust?"
