From: abeall on 23 Apr 2008 23:19
Thank you. I am trying this and it is so slugish. I start in one place, let up off the mouse and the thing keeps going. Any idea why this is happening?
If you are on Vista, turn Aero off (google how to do that.) There's a problem with Vista Aero and brushes in Fireworks. As for the example you posted, you could definitely get the same effect using the tutorial posted. Just start with a good base image of fabric: http://www.sxc.hu/browse.phtml?f=search&w=1&txt=fabric
From: ScottyeN on 23 Apr 2008 23:53 Thanks, abeall for the Aero hint. Never would have thought of that one. I'll take a look at the tutorial frist thing in the morning. Thank you again for the help. I'll let you know how it goes. Scottye
From: JoeyD1978 on 24 Apr 2008 08:55 You're after a "grunge" effect, which is a pretty popular web design trend right now. Here's a nice Photoshop tutorial on the subject that could provide some insight: http://psdtuts.com/interface-tutorials/design-a-cartoon-grunge-website-layout/ Mind you, most all of the techniques in that tutorial can be done with Fireworks, just a little differently. Experiment with it all and if you get stuck on anything let us know...
