my computer won't install any updates - i have tried changing the settings as
it says in the trouble shooting but it doesn't help. It just says 'error:
Windows is updating new updates, please try again in a few minutes.' Its
Code:80240016. But its been weeks and still no updates have been installed.
Help please.

What year did your Windows 98 system stop getting updates and giving you
that error?

Or - another way of putting it... *grin*

What operating system, architecture, service pack level and version of
Internet Explorer are you running?

When posting to this Newsgяoup at least provide us with details of the

Operating System you are using including Service Pack level,

what Browser (exact version) you are using.

antivirus or antimalware software you may have installed,

what other Security software are you running,

and is a 3rd party firewall being used ?, etc. etc. ?.

Always state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; WinXP 64-bit SP2;
Vista SP1; Vista 64-bit SP2; Win7; Win7 64-bit) when posting in a forum or
newsgroup. Please do so in your next reply.

Is this a sudden, new problem?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?

Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the
computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?
