PTEDIT32 does run from windows. The only problem is you have to go to Dos
to use Restore. I finally figured out how to restore the XP hard drive.
You have to run PTEDIT.exe in the 16 bit Dos environment. After running it
you will see the first two columns of all the drives. In the first column
the 07 drive is the XP drive and the DB drive is the restore drive. In the
second column the XP drive has an 80 while the other drives have 00. Using
PTEDIT you must change the DB drive to a TYPE 0C drive. In its second
column you change 00 to 80. In the XP drive's second column you change the
80 to 00. Save and close. Then when you boot up you will boot directly to
the RESTORE drive. After the restore, you shut down the computer and it
goes back to booting from the restored XP drive. I don't know if it changes
the DB drive back to DB because I went to bed instead.....at 5 AM.

Thank you all for trying to help.
