Here it is repeated below: You seemed to install GRUB on a boot partition, but not the MBR. Thus, your computer will not default to GRUB but will use MS's bootloader. I actually have a dual boot and use MS's bootloader, and find it works quite well. Here are a couple links to posts I wrote about doing this (I should acknowledge, as I do in the other post, that I received much help from others). http://tinyurl.com/j2tf9 http://tinyurl.com/hhrdw
From: MiataRed on 6 May 2006 14:27 Yes I have - I am going to get a book on Linux to try and understand better - I cannot figure how to use the floppy to copy the /boot file to the Windows partition to use the MS bootload - which is what I want to use. The command in the test will not work at all. When I do to linux rescue, the dd command does nothing. I remembered vi, so I type vi /dev/hdd3/grub.conf and it's there. So it only needs to be copied to my windows drive (not sure if it's C or D, so I I'll test both. I think my Windows boot is on D, but the rest is on C. I am so used to a GUI that character base OS is very foreign to me now... Thanks.

Did you say in another post that you can't even boot up into Fedora with a rescue cd? > > I remembered vi, so I type vi /dev/hdd3/grub.conf and it's there. Find the drive that has the "boot.ini" file, and stick the file you exported from your linux install there. Also remember to edit the boot.ini file to access the linux boot file and to add a second option onto your bootloader menu. > > I am so used to a GUI that character base OS is very foreign to me > now... > > Thanks. >
