This Vista Super-fetch thing
The more I work with Vista, the better I like its "theoretical" ideas, and the more I turn them off and get improved performance back towards XP. My latest vista hack involves USB thumb drive slowness. I got sick and tired of sitting there watching the arrow go around the circle while Vista inspected my USB thu... 11 Apr 2008 12:41
Break the law by being a daredevil? (Curiosity questions only.)

Power supply supplies voltage when off
I use Windows automatic shutdown and rarely turn off the power supply. I have noticed that on start up, the CPU temp on the BIOS screen is always 8-10F higher than the case temp. Best upgrades for a HP pavillion laptop XE4800 (AMD 2800XP?)
Download CPU-Z and see how fast your CPU is running. There's a bug with ACPI and power-savings settings on that computer where the CPU is only running at 25% no matter what you do with the settings. HP is pointing their finger at Microsoft and Microsoft is blaming HP. Doesn't matter who's fault it is, you've got a ... 9 Apr 2008 13:49
