Deleting songs from my iPod is easy enough--I just find the song by clicking
on the iPod source in the left column, highlight the song in the main
section, and hit delete. Piece of cake.

But for some strange reason, there is no comparable way to delete photos.
Not wanting to "sync" my photos with iPhoto (I have iPhoto 2, which isn't
set up for this), I experimentally put a folder of photos from my iMac onto
the iPod as follows:

After connecting my iPod, in iTunes (version 6) I clicked on the iPod icon
in the lower right corner, bringing up the iPod prefs. I clicked on Photos
on the top bar. I changed the "Synchronize photos from" option from iPhoto
to the iPhoto Library folder. I then selected Copy selected folders only,
and selected another folder with a checkmark inside the scrolling list of
folders then presented to me. I did not select "Include full resolution
photos."

The photos downloaded to my iPod fine. But when I examined them I realized
there were a few I didn't want, so I decided to delete them.

Well, guess what. APPLE HAS NO INFORMATION WHATSOVER ON HOW TO DELETE THEM!

Which is why I turn now to you, brothers and sisters. Any help would be
appreciated.

TIA,
Jim

Have you tried "enabling disk use" in iTunes and editing though the
finder? Not that I can try this as my ipod is too old.

Jim,

The easist fix is to just take the photos out of the folder that you
directed iTunes to "sync". Obviously, this requires you to "update"
the iPod again.
