I usually use the pen (stylus) as my pointer device. When I press any of the
modifier kyes (ctrl, alt, or shift) a little indicator box appears under my
cursor that shows the keys that are pressed. If I hold the key and move the
pen, the indicator box follows the cursor around. There are some programs
that don't accept Ink input (such as LyX) and the pen cursor is "orphaned"
when the pointer automatically switches over to a mouse cursor. The problem
is that the indicator box still appears wherever the cursor was when it
switched. So when I hit the shift key, somewhere else the little indicator
box appears. That's an annoyance,and I would like to turn off the keypress
indicator on the cursor.

The indicator box appears whether I use the pen cursors or the mouse cursors
with the pen. I think the indicator is a feature related to the pen, since it
doe not appear when I use the trackpad.

I'm using Vista Home Premium (64 bit), on a HP tx2000z custom tablet with
Wacom digitizer. I've looked through the "Pen and Input Device Settings",
"Tablet PC Settings", and "Tablet Properties" on the Vista control panel, but
haven't found a way to turn off that indicator box. I've also looked
extensively online, but haven't found the right combination of keywords to
find out anything about this. I've looked at HP support and Wacom support,
but could not find anything related to this.

Any help or guidance would be much appreciated!
