It appears that MS provides a free converter for download. See:

I have never used it, I just found it in a search of MS.

The file format for PPT 2000 is the same as for 2003. So just have them save
normally.

Thanks - I let the users try it out (do not have a PowerPoint 2000 my self).

Technologically seen I am not quite sure. Do you have any links that
documentates that they are the same?
