From: Phillip on 4 Aug 2005 10:41 I really like the sounds that the Cakewalk TTS-1 synth produces. I just can figure out how to be able to use multiple sounds at once. When I first load the synth, it loads like 5 bars. The 5th one is the only one it seems I can control the sound setting at, and the other ones I don't know what they are...maybe output tracks? How do I use multiple sounds at one time? When I open up the software synth mixing panel where you select the sounds, can't I just go down the line and set different sounds for different tracks? I'm confused. Also, where can I get more of these soft synths for Sonar? Thanks.

When you say you are getting "5 bars" I'm assuming you mean you added the TTS-1 to the project using the synth rack and in the synth rack options you have "All Synth Outputs" checked under the "create these tracks" column. It doesn't sound like you need all 4 outputs at this time so you might want to change "All Synth Outputs" to just "First Synth Output". This way all your tracks will come out of a single output from the TTS-1 (and you should only have 2 "bars" or tracks now). As Glennbo said you will need a MIDI track for every instrument (sound/patch) you want to use in the TTS-1. The easiest way to do this is simply to clone the MIDI track the synth rack created for you. Do this for how ever many tracks you need. Then set each track to a different MIDI channel (you have up to sixteen numbered 1-16) and set the Bank and Patch on each track to the appropriate sound. Now by clicking on any one of the MIDI tracks you should be able to hear and record that particular instrument. > Also, where can I > get more of these soft synths for Sonar? Thanks. > There's literally hundreds of softsynths out there (in both DirectX and VST format...you can run the VST ones in Sonar if you use a wrapper like the one that comes with Sonar Producer). The best place to read about plugins (both softsynths and effects) is here: http://www.kvraudio.com/. There is an "Instruments/Effects/Hosts" link on the upper-left hand side of the page (under News) where you can search for specific types of softsynths.
