From: JBRC Chorus on 13 May 2008 12:34 I am using Word 2003 (11.8202.8202) SP3 on Vista Business. I have created a new document template, and saved it in the templates folder. I have then created new Word documents based on this template using File>New and choosing from the template list, then saving to my documents folder. The problem is that I always get a prompt to save the document template, even when I have made no changes to any documents. a) I read in other posts this may be caused by embedded fields updating, but I have no embedded fields in the template or documents that might automatically update on load - not even page numbers. b) I read in other posts this may be casued by macros, but I have no macros in the template or in any documents. c) I read in other posts that this may be caused by add-ins (malicious or otherwise) but I have no add-ins in the template, nor the normal template nor in any document. d) I have checked for any special properties in the File>Properties dialog but there are no custom properties nor any other property that looks like it might cause this. e) I read in another post that this may be caused by a non-US language setting, but I have set the default language to English(US) in both the template and in the documents created from the template. f) It seems to me that the template is the root of problem, because if I open the template itself (File>Open>select ".dot" document type>Navigate to template>Open template) then immediately close it, I still get the same prompt to save changes to the template. Please could anyone let me know if there is some other setting in the template I may have missed that I can change to get rid of this problem. Although it is not a show stopper, it sure is irritating! Thanks for your help.
