From: Erich Seidenschmiedt on 9 Oct 2007 15:17 hello NG, I am somewhat puzzled by the descripton of this board on the ABIT homepage: http://www2.abit.com.tw/page/en/motherboard/motherboard_detail.php?pMODEL_NAME=IP35+Pro&fMTYPE=LGA775 They say "On board Dual Gigabit LAN controller supports 10/100/1000M Ethernet", and further down under Back Panel I/O they say "1 x RJ-45 LAN connector" - how come? wouldn't Dual LAN automatically mean that there are 2 connectors? Can someone enlighten me? Also, under "Internal I/O" they cite 1 ATA-connector, does this mean I can connect 1 or 2 devices? Thanks and regards, Erich

It has two LAN connectors and a single ATA connector, which would allow you to attach two devices to the same cable. Intel, in their wisdom, decided that the P35 chipset doesn't need ATA functionality so Abit used a JMicron ATA controller to provide that support. I don't have any ATA devices but I've seen several reports that the JMicron controller has issues. In addition, the LAN connectors are wired to the PCI bus and not the PCIe bus, so if you truly wanted two connections both going at gigabit speeds then you're likely to be disappointed there too. Having said all that, I truly love this board. I'm running a Q6600 at 3 Ghz and it's solid as a rock.
