From: Bella Jones on 10 Jun 2005 16:37 Evening all I'm trying to install this system extension, Soundflower, just to try something out. (I mentioned it in another post about podcasting, but I guessed no-ones's doing that right now.) <http://www.cycling74.com/products/soundflower.html> The notes say it will ask for my system password, and then I must restart. But when I go to install, it doesn't ask for the password, nor mentions a restart. I went ahead, but nothing appeared in the Audio prefs (nor/system/library/extensions), so I ran the uninstaller (to get rid of 'Soundflower.kext'). But terminal just gave me 'failed'. Tried restarting, repairing permissions and reinstalling, but it's the same. Anyone know what might be going on? Thanks. -- bellajonez at yahoo dot co dot uk

No password either. Oh well, another mystery process... -- bellajonez at yahoo dot co dot uk

If it is a trojan-type fecker, how will I know? -- bellajonez at yahoo dot co dot uk

If it is a trojan-type fecker, how will I know? I would have a clue, but the fact that you could put it into the /System folder without having to authenticate implies either the permission on /Sys/Lib/ext is wrong, or the installer is able to get elevated privilidges. Either of which is not good I wuld have thought. |
