From: Jeff Gaines on 30 Jan 2006 09:55 I want to try and get Wine running but have hit a snag. I have added sourceforge as a repository which seems to be OK, but I get an error: The following packages have unmet dependencies: wine: Depends: libxxf86dga1 but it is not installable A Google for libxxf86dga1 produces nothing, it does look an unlikely name :-) Anybody have any suggestions please? I want to try and run my Windows news reader (XanaNews) if I can, it's one Windows app that I miss! -- Jeff Gaines Damerham Hampshire UK

Google search produces some results http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=libxxf86&btnG=Search&meta=

It's not in Sarge, but is in Etch and Sid. There's a Sarge backport on http://www.backports.org/ . But I'd have thought the repo you got WINE from would include the needed library packages, or else instructions where to get them ? I do wonder whether the package management in Debian is worth hitting brick walls. Somebody has asked about distros down the group, I'll watch the responses. I have used SuSE and wonder about that. -- Jeff Gaines Damerham Hampshire UK

It's not perfectly applicable to Debian, but it's maybe better than nothing. Ewan |
