I want to try and get Wine running but have hit a snag.
I have added sourceforge as a repository which seems to be OK, but I get
an error:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
wine: Depends: libxxf86dga1 but it is not installable

A Google for libxxf86dga1 produces nothing, it does look an unlikely
name :-)

Anybody have any suggestions please? I want to try and run my Windows
news reader (XanaNews) if I can, it's one Windows app that I miss!

Try searching for libxxf86, that file could be of that family...
Google search produces some results

If packages.debian.org wasn't down at the moment you could look there ...

It's not in Sarge, but is in Etch and Sid. There's a Sarge backport on
http://www.backports.org/ . But I'd have thought the repo you got WINE
from would include the needed library packages, or else instructions
where to get them ?

Yes, it's a pain :-)

Many thanks Nick/Beck. I do wonder whether the package management in
Debian is worth hitting brick walls. Somebody has asked about distros
down the group, I'll watch the responses. I have used SuSE and wonder
about that.

For what it's worth packages.ubuntu.com is in full working order, and
obviously enough, has quite a lot in common with the Debian one. It's not
perfectly applicable to Debian, but it's maybe better than nothing.
