From: Whipstersh on 5 Apr 2008 09:41 Hello, I have been attempting to install the Adobe Director 30-Day Trial to test out the program. Each time I attempt to run the program (Setup.exe), I receive an initialization loading message. Click http://xs126.xs.to/xs126/08146/adobeinitprob616.jpg to see it. And that loads fully. Once that is finished loading the message disappears and nothing happens. I've checked the CPU requirements, and my computer meets all of them. Any idea of what the problem could be? Thanks!
From: Sean Wilson on 5 Apr 2008 16:12 Find yourself an extracter that supports 7Zip files and extract the contents of the installer. Here's some detailed instructions: <quote> a little hint for anybody who likes to test the trial version on win xp, but doesn't want it to mess with the registry and overwrite existing file type associations for DMX2004 etc. (yet): here a little tutorial how you can run it without "real" installation. tested on win xp pro sp2, logged in as admintrator. 1. either run "Director_WWE.exe" and let it extract everything to a temporary folder (and then quit the installer), or, much faster, use the "7-Zip file manager" (or any other uncompress tool that supports 7-zip compression) and only extract the folder "\Adobe Director 11\payloads\AdobeDirector11en_US\" from "Director_WWE.exe" 2. move the folder "AdobeDirector11en_US" to C:\ (otherwise there might be problems with too long pathes), (and delete the rest of the extracted files if you expanded the complete exe) 3. open a DOS box in "C:\AdobeDirector11en_US" and enter msiexec /a AdobeDirector11en_US.msi /qb TARGETDIR=c:\dir11tmp this will extract the Adobe Director 11 folder to "C:\dir11tmp\program files\Adobe\Adobe Director 11" 4. done! now you can put the "Adobe Director 11" folder whereever you like (and delete C:\dir11tmp) , e.g. to "C:\Adobe Director 11", and just run "Director.exe" by double-clicking. </quote>
From: Whipstersh on 6 Apr 2008 07:52 Thank you for your response. I've gotten up to task three, and am trying to enter the following into my Command Prompt: msiexec /a AdobeDirector11en_US.msi /qb TARGETDIR=c:\dir11tmp Whenever I try to do this, I receive http://xs226.xs.to/xs226/08140/adobedosprob612.jpg. I have tried several times and have checked my spelling. Whenever I enter this: msiexec /a AdobeDirector11en_US.msi /qb TARGETDIR=c:\dir11 tmp (space between dir11 and tmp) I receive http://xs226.xs.to/xs226/08140/adobedosprob2119.jpg. I click 'OK' and the message disappears and no other directory appears in my C:/ drive. Any idea of what I am doing incorrectly? Thanks!
From: Sean Wilson on 6 Apr 2008 16:05 Try creating the target folder 'C:\dir11tmp' before running the DOS command. If that fails, you might very well have a corrupt installer - try downloading it again.

I've re-downloaded the program twice now and have tried creating the C:\dir11tmp before using Command Prompt, and the error persists whenever clicking 'Director.exe'. Any other advice on why the error could be occurring? |
