So I tried install the IPW3945 drivers and firmware and daemon with
slackware 12, from the /extras, It always said that it couldnt find
the IPW3945 Network Connection when the daemon ran, and dmesg shows
that IPW3945: Cannot read ipw3945.ucode reason: -2
Okay so I finally got the rebuild working, and I installed the new
iwifi drivers and mac80211.
Then I ran the load script and it showed wlan0, however I run ifconfig
wlan0 up and i get no such file or directory.
Also, it doesnt scan with iwlist scan.
When I do iwconfig, it shows IEEE 80211a, and its the Intel Pro
Wireless ABG 3945, so I dont know if it will change automatically or
what, but ive seen peoples iwconfig, and it showed bg.
I cant do ifconfig wlan0 up, so I cant get it to connect to anything.
Any ideas why this is?

So after much help from #slackware(a)freenode, I have realized that
since I had to do chmod -x rc.udev, to avoid getting the blackscreen
at bootup after my initial installation, it seems that the firmware is
having problems loading, and dmesg shows:
Cannot read microcode reason: -2
So when udev is ran, I get the blackscreen and cannot do anything
except hard power off. It has been concluded that it most likely is a
module that is causing these problems with udev, and not udev itself.
This has happened with the same microcode error with iwlwifi drivers
and the old ipw3945 drivers, so it seems obvious that it is not a
driver issue or firmware issue from a certain set of drivers.

So basically I figured out that since udev is -x, I cannot read
microcode of the ipw3945 card. However udev gives me a blackscreen and
locks my comp up, so I have to have it -x.
Running Nvidia geforce go 7950gtx pci x, Ive read others having issues
in archlinux with geforce and udev, but no solutions.

A wild guess ... do you have an nvidiafb module.. that maybe udev loads
automaticaly??

Or probably it's some other module ... you'll have to investigate this.
