From: Barb K on 21 May 2008 16:33 I have imported tasks that include the estimated times, actual times and remaining times and resources. Upon import I see a % next to my resource. Where does this % come from? I want this to be 100% but right now I have to go into each one individually to change the resource units. Is there a way to mass change this to 100%?
From: Jim Aksel on 21 May 2008 16:50 Hi Barb. The number next to the name represents to allocation % of that unit for the task. So, if it says Mary [25%] then it means Mary is allocated 25% of her time based on the remaining work and remaining duration of the task in question. So, if there are 10 days remaining on the task and remaining work is 20 hours, then Mary is working at 25%. In order to change Mary to 100%, project needs to know what you want to do.... if Mary increases her participation to 100% will she be able to complete the task in less duration? Has the work increased and the duration remained constanst? Basically, Work=Allocation% x units x duration. So, you need to decide what you want to allow to change. To answer your question, you can highlight all the "Mary" tasks and then change her allocation to 100% using the Assign Resources icon on the toolbar. Project will let you highlight groupings 10 at a time. The resultant will be either an increase in total work, or a decrease in duration depending on the task type. The default is fixed units, so expect to see duration shrink. If you want to avoid that, change all the tasks to fixed duration prior to making the change. -- If this post was helpful, please consider rating it.
