From: Mark on 6 May 2008 15:09 Last 4 or 5 sleeps on my iG5/1.6 have resulted in it powering up the fans like a bloody jet engine before it finally sleeps. Last time this happened (2 years ago) it was the dreaded exploding capacitors (got the midplane/motherboard replaced). Before I power this down for a look-see, is there anything else that might be causing this? Cheers ... Mark

For me it is usually Canon print drivers trying to reach a device that is no longer available. -- Cheers, Steve The reply-to email address is a spam trap. Email steve 'at' shodgson 'dot' org 'dot' uk

Mark Mine makes the jet engine noise when it gets dusty inside - it seems to be reminding me that it's time to open it up and have a good session with a hoover and an air line.

I went out and came back yesterday to find one of my Macs - an early G5 1.6 - with its fans full on and crashed. Scared the hell out of me but it rebooted OK. It's never done this before - I'll take your advice about a clean. E.
