i want to update the software on my sony ericsson K800i but the
updater program does not list my phone in the menu,despite listing
older lower spec phones.

what do i do ?

it was certainly listed in the update program i got from the sony erricson
web site.
you need to look again.

Are you sure? I have the sonyericsson update service installed on my PC
and it updates my K800 just fine.
