Hi,

I've just got a new PC, with an NVidia NForce chipset, and SATA hard disks.
I booted Knoppix (v4.0.2) and it didn't spot any hard disks.

Before I delve into this too deeply, is there a simple mistake I've made?

Yeah, I found that. However, it says, that an sata_nv driver exists as of
kernel 2.6.8 (albeit in beta). Isn't this driver included with Knoppix?

How about Debian?

In December I put Debian onto a Dell PowerEdge server using the iso from
here:
http://wiki.osuosl.org/display/LNX/Debian+on+Dell+Servers

I don't know if this will work on your puter but it may be worth a try.

Try Kubuntu 5.10 or later. Worked a treat for me on this laptop with
a SATA disk.
