From: sg on 24 Apr 2008 07:51 Is it possible to set up a LAN before I have a cable or DSL modem available. I would like to network a wireless laptop and two desktops using a Linksys wireless 4 port router before I subscribe to a cable or DSL service then at a later date add the cable/dsl modem. Is this possible or do I have to have access to the internet before I can build the network? Thanks for any info you can provide.
From: Sooner Al [MVP] on 24 Apr 2008 08:17 You can do that. Make sure the PCs are set to get their LAN IPs from the router's built-in DHCP server. You will just be using the router as a wireless access point and network switch in that case. Here is a nice set of articles from MS. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813936/ -- Al Jarvi (MS-MVP Windows - Desktop User Experience) Please post *ALL* questions and replies to the news group for the mutual benefit of all of us...
