speaker wackiness
My desktop (and its contents) took a tumble a few days ago. Initially, the only casualty was the case for my USR Sportster 33.6. Then, after I the leg got reattached and braced and I reassembled everything, it seems the right shift on the Model M is a bit sticky, and the front speakers were silent. (The rears an... 19 Jun 2008 01:17
Interpreting output from lspci -vvv?
Hello, I recently purchased a Dell Precision T5400 and installed an Adaptec PCI-X 2230SLP SCSI controller. The Dell system is advertised as having 100Mhz capable PCI-X slots and the Adaptec card is advertised as being 133Mhz capable. I’m trying to determine the current bus speed of this Adaptec card. Booted Vista to make sure it could still be done. Next boot to Linux, it froze coming up -- something about an ACPI threshold (?) or somesuch, sorry ... 19 Jun 2008 01:17

Image processing
I was also wondering about memory matters. It says on Shuttle's site for the SG31G2 that the memory it expects is Dual Channel DDR2 667/800, which I take it means that the most I can expect for it is to put in DDR2 800 chips. Aside from this specification, do the timings, cas latency matter or not? ... 26 Jun 2008 13:35
what is this Pretec Bluetooth device?
I'm having trouble figuring out what this device is. I picked it up about 4 years ago from a computer show. I didn't put much thought into it when I purchased it - just thought it was a bluetooth controller in the CompactFlash form factor. Now that I'm actually trying to "use" it, it turns out it may not really b... 19 Jun 2008 01:17
