Standard complaint.

And the Linux loons will tell him he should have done more research when
selecting hardware.

That argument carries no weight when the person already owns the hardware
and all of it works, and works fully, under Windows.

Linux should get it's act together and do whatever it takes to get support.

Evidently the hardware manufacturers, like the BBC have determined that
Linux at less than 1 percent of the desktop market, is not worth developing
for.

Redhat seems to agree as they have dumped their consumer desktop Linux
program.

Under which version of Windows? How many people had to toss hardware
when they moved from 98 to ME/2000/XP? How many more had to toss
hardware less than a year old in order to move to Vista?

Windows should get its act together to support near-current hardware.

Since you can get a working linux desktop for free it is hard to make
money selling one. How many companies make money selling support for
windows desktops? That number should tell you something about windows.
