Unbalanced or Balanced for Piezo Pickup
I remember reading that you need an unbalanced line for a guitar with pickup used with an amplifier. Why is that? Does the pickup require this unbalanced line to amplify correctly? Any good articles on this subject? How about for a piezo microphone on an acoustic guitar? Shouldn't a balanced line work just a... 14 Jul 2008 08:31
beta 87 wireless - feedback frequencies?
Hi all. I have an inexperienced female singer using IEM's and a Beta 87 wireless system who also wants foldback louder than it will go. Does anyone know the specific frequencies that this mic squeals at? I've identified 6.3>8k, 2.5, 400>500,.. she has a really weak voice and bad technique, I have squeals even a... 21 Jul 2008 19:15
To bridge or not to bridge ? Related Question:
I have a question along the same vein, but not about bridging. The club system I work with has 4 JBL Custom Shop 2/18" subs, driven by a MacroTech 5002 amp (run in stereo). So I have a choice of running 4/18" drivers per side either in parallel at 2 ohms, or parallel-series at 8 ohms. At first, I tried run... 11 Jul 2008 05:50

To bridge or not to bridge ?
Hi All I'm seeking advice (and probably the logic why) on how best to run the following system. The setup : 1 x QSC PLX3402 and 8 single 8 ohm 15" subs. Is it best to: A: run 4 boxes either side, that is as rated 1.7kw into a 2 ohm load per side or B: bridge the amps output and run 3.4kw as rated in... 14 Jul 2008 10:35
RF, Audio? I can't tell the difference any more.
http://www.subbrit.org.uk/sb-sites/sites/r/rugby_radio/index.shtml An interesting history of the Rugby Radio Station, which I often pass, and used to wonder what it was, on the M1 Motorway. (between junctions 18 and 19) Seems that during the war, 16Khz and 18.75Khz were the preferred transmitting frequ... 11 Jul 2008 11:59
In-Ear Monitoring
Hello all, Confession time: I've never mixed monitors for musicians wearing in-ears. I don't know why, but it's always been wedges so far. Question: what should one look out for when mixing for in-ears? Should I have limiters on all the in-ear outputs? Compressors? Is a 31-band EQ still necessary on the in... 17 Jul 2008 04:28
