From: Andrew Gabriel on 8 Apr 2008 10:26 LOSUG, Wed 16th April -- Practical (Open)Solaris Security 18:00 - 21:30 The speaker this month is Brent Paulson, who works in Sun's Security Sustaining team. Brent's talk will be based around the practical security features of a web server running on Solaris secured using Zones. The presentation will cover the effects of features such as Secure By Default, IP Filter, SMF Security, RBAC, and Least Privilege from the perspective of a remote attacker who wants to gain access to the system and then theoretically gains local user access and finally root access. The aim is to showcase a number of the security protections provided with (Open)Solaris and how they can be used together in the spirit of defense in depth to help protect the system, its services, and data from attackers. Also come and have a chat with other Solaris users and Sun engineering staff over a buffet meal and a glass of wine/beer/orange in an informal setting. Please see the LOSUG page for free registration instructions. http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/losug/ -- Andrew Gabriel [email address is not usable -- followup in the newsgroup]
