Does anyone have a spare 906114-01 PLA they'd be willing to part with? Please
let me know (f'ups to poster).

Newly-developed PLA replacements are available from Ray Carlsen
here in the states and Francois Leveille in Canada. These PLA's run
cold (not hot like the originals) and are compatible with all
C64's/SX-64's with the exception of the very early C64's.

Robert,
I have not made up any of those mods yet... still waiting for a
supply of blank chips from Digikey. Francois has the mods already made
up if anyone is interested. As you stated, they work in most versions
of the 64 except the very early 326298 (1982) board. In one I own, the
screen comes up but there was no cursor. That one was made to work by
changing U1, the keyboard interface 6526 IC, to one of a different
manufacturing year. Another board (same number) would not boot but only
produced a blank screen. I never found a solution for that one and I
had to return it (repaired with the original PLA in it) so further tests
were not possible. There is apparently some kind of timing difference
between the very early and later C64 boards that makes the mod unworkable
in that early board. Francois mod chip worked well in every other 64 and
SX I tried it in. :-)

Hi Ray. What chips are you using as replacement for the Signetics 82S100
found in the C64? I usually burn the Philips PLS100's, when I am in need,
although those chips are expensive and hard to come by. Let me know, I am
interested.
