From: Paddyray on 14 Apr 2008 14:18 Computer HP Pavilion zc6252EA came with wireless working and connecting when I went a wondering. 11 Months ago I changed to BT (this may be a red herring) and have not had cause to use the wireless device until last moth when it failed to pick up any signals. I now receive a message that my comports1 & 2 plus USB are not working. When I go to Device Manager the ComPort device is not listed. Any polite and in-expensive suggests?

The onlt common link these have is that they are usually all port of the main noard of the PC (aka motherbaord.) These can be turned off / on by accessing the motherboard configuration controls known as CMOS / BIOS. Once you access the BIOS, you will need to check, and turn on, serial port A / B, USB ports and wireless network adapter.
From: Paddyray on 15 Apr 2008 14:19 thank you for your information and I am sorry to be such an idiot but is there a smple way you can instruct me on how to access CMOS/BIOS to make the changes? PCs have different methods of accessing the BIOS. There usually is a message display during hte PC's boot up that show which key need to be (during the time the message is showing) press. If the message disappears before you press the key, then you will have to restart the PC so that it is shown again. If HP is following the older Compaq method (??,) Compaq was using the "keyboard function" key <F10>. Other makers can use: <Del> <F1> -- IBM / Lenovos Check you manuals or HP's web site. |
