We have a Blue-and-White running 10.4.11 that has recently developed a
very odd connectivity problem. Firefox works, Mail works, Adium's
*messaging* works, but...

Apple Software Update, iTunes Store and Adium's auto-update do *not*
work. Console reports a failure message that begins : NSError "can't
connect to host" D=NSURL Error Domain Code= -1004 UserInfo={..."

This Mac is on a small LAN behind a firewall, but all the other Macs on
the LAN have no such problem.

Suggestions?

Isaac

Likely what your seeing is a Name Server Error. Trash your IP Perfs,
AFTER, writing them down. and redo them in Network Port Screen in
Locations in the Apple Menu. Looks like a DNS Server Addressing
Error, to "Me"......

I'd not be quite that drastic. I'd go to the Network prefpane and
re-enter the DNS server information and click "apply now" first.

I'll try it, but would either one of you have an opinion on why it's
possible to browse just fine with Firefox if the DNS is broken?
