From: monsterfish on 11 Jun 2008 12:15 I'm curious if D11 will play .mp4 files back without QT installed. I would check the Demo but it is currently unavailable. I'm running MX 2004 and haven't had any luck.
From: Mike Blaustein on 11 Jun 2008 12:51 Mpeg Advance xtra from Tabuleiro can play mp4 files without requiring QT. I do not think that they have released a D11 version, but if you are on PC and are targeting English language PCs (non Unicode file paths), then the D10 version will probably work.
From: pvansch on 12 Jun 2008 03:20 Hey monsterfish, how are you encoding your mpegs? Are they mpeg4 encoded using QT or microsofts mpeg4 spec? They are both different and as you can guess neither will play the others. The other problem if you distributing for windows, WMP does not come with a standard MPEG4 decoder, you have to use a third party decoder. I've never had much luck with MPEG4 distribution, especially if Quicktime install is not an option. You can read more here http://xtras.tabuleiro.com/support/technotes/mpeg_advance/ma008.htm Good luck!
