From: Mark on 18 Jul 2008 15:45 Hello- I have a mostly functioning 2000 Mackie 24-8 for repair or parts. Mike R suggested parting out may be best. Except for the light bulb scorches under the a analog bridge VU's, the mixer is beautiful. All sliders are as new, no noise, power supply is perfect. I'm the original daddy & it's in a private smoke free studio. I'd rather not ship this monster whole, as that costs over $100. It has 2 problem aux channels (need hot input level to wake 'em up) and a phantom being in the Group 1 buss. All other functions are fine. If you're a wiz, you could repair if you promise not to ask questions on the Mackie forum ;o) If you're in Central Florida, you could come to the studio to demo it and I'll help you load it in the car. I know the power supply is worth a few hundred and the bridge -- who knows? Mark in Tampa Bay

It's an all original 2000 24-8 (that's not good is it?) Mark in FL

It's an all original 2000 > 24-8 (that's not good is it?) Well, let me put it this way, my 32-8 now mostly has revision H cables. I believe all earlier versions suffered from a manufacturing/assembly defect resulting in lots of intermittent operation and outright non functionality. (a few are REV G) At the time of my acquisition of a used unit Mackie was kind enough to send me a complete kit even though I was only requesting a single cable at the time. I replaced the easy cables to cure the apparent problem. However eventually I spent the time to upgrade all of them. It is a painstaking tedious time consuming project. By removing about 40 screws the bottom cover comes off allowing on to easily read the marking on the ribbon cables.
