From: Vik Rubenfeld on 10 Jul 2008 17:01 A few weeks ago I started receiving emails that looked like they were addressed to other people I know. But on checking the email address, I found that it was my email address - Mail was just putting somebody else's name beside it. Just now I tried to address an email to myself. I typed in my own email address, but a friend's name popped up next to it. It looks like this in the "To:" field: John Smith When I control-click on it, it shows my correct email address. How do I fix this? I've tried vacuuming the index, as described in this MacWorld post: http://tinyurl.com/5lyvxo, but it did not yet correct the anomaly. Thanks in advance to all for any info. -Vik

Click "Previous Recipients" in Mail's "Windows" menu and see if the bad name is there.

It was in both places. I removed it from the places it didn't belong, and I think that fixed it. Thanks very much!

In my case, my email address was somehow included in the card for two of my friends. I just deleted my email address from their cards.

I just deleted my email address from their cards. I just had this same issue about 15 minutes ago. Thanks for anticipating that and providing the solution (via your query and the responses of others!) Dave -- There's a fine line between stupid and clever. ROT-13 for my e-mail address
