From: Bella Jones on 17 Jul 2008 15:59 As a new Mail user, it's very faffy with accounts. I'm getting endless prompts for passwords, to specify servers, and flat refusal to let me send in a couple of them. [Google docs, now there's an effing nightmare for email]. The server doctor thingy keeps telling me all is fine, but sending is not having it. The one thing where Entourage made things very simple. -- bellajonez at yahoo dot co dot uk

Open Keychain Access.app and there's a First Aid option which will verify and fix and funnies in it. > The one thing where Entourage made things very simple. I don't remember Entourage being radically better (or worse) here TBH. Cheers, Chris

Mail has some issues but not those! Sounds like it isn't connecting to your servers properly, or isn't saving the account information. Normally, it just works! -- Woody

TBH it's the server issues that are worse. All connected with gmail. There is my normal gmail, there is now a new googlemail i set up today, and then there is my domain name, which I am using through Google Docs (this is cos i use it for my blog, and want to use the email as well). The google docs issue is flummoxing me totally. The interface looks almost the same as gmail, and is a total headache. smtp.gmail.com (tehcnically the sending option for all three addresses(1)) seems to work according to the system testing it, but not when i actually want to send anything. (1) This might not be the case, but the help docs are not clear. > > The one thing where Entourage made things very simple. > > I don't remember Entourage being radically better (or worse) here TBH. Worked straight off here. -- bellajonez at yahoo dot co dot uk
