Hi,

Over the last few days I've started having problems with Mail.app not
seeing keyboard shortcuts. The biggest problem is not being able to copy
and paste with cmd-C/cmd-V, but no other keyboard shortcuts are working
either. I'm not having a problem with shortcuts in any other application,
so I'm sure it's something that I've screwed up in Mail. I just can't
figure out what to look for. I initially thought the problem was connected
to TypeIt4Me, but turning that off (completely or for just Mail) doesn't
make any difference.

There are 2 things I played with a couple days ago that I could see
affecting this, but reversing those changes don't seem to matter either.
First, I tweaked my DefaultKeyBindings.dict. That should affect everything
using the Cocoa text system, but everything else is working as I expect.
(While the standard Mail shortcuts don't work, the bindings I've defined do
work correctly.) The other thing I did was install the MsgFiler plug-in to
Mail. Installing it consisted of copying the plug-in to
~/Library/Mail/Bundles and turning on mail bundles (defaults write
com.apple.mail EnableBundles YES). Again, reversing that didn't make a
difference.

I've looked at com.apple.mail.plist in the hopes of finding another entry
that looked related to keyboard shortcuts, but I'm not seeing anything.
I'm at a loss as to where else to look. Any suggestions are greatly
appreciated.

Thanks.

Try nuking the preferences file for Mail.app. Make sure to take a
backup first, just in case something goes wrong.

IIRC, you'll have to re-enter your account information after doing so,
as that's stored in the plist.

Best,
Rob

Nope. That didn't do it. Started clean with no plist file. (Or is there
some other preference file that I'm missing?) It's still not working.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Have you checked the Keyboard Shortcuts section of the Keyboard & Mouse
system preferences, to see if something is overriding them?

Do the shortcuts appear next to the corresponding menu items?

Yep. Checked that. There are no settings overriding shortcuts globally and
there are no application specific settings at all.

Yes.

I also did one other test that I didn't mention. If I run mail in a
different account on this machine it works properly. So it's definitely a
user setting in my account and not a problem with the application itself.
