Problems burning DVDs -- Part Two
All: A big thank you to all of you who gave me the advice on how to better burn DVDs. Most of the time, burning slower with a 16MB buffer works great. I am still having problems with some burnt DVDs though. I have been burning with TDK DVDs and CDs on Mandriva Linux 2007 with K3B for some time now; but, th... 9 Oct 2007 19:23
Salts and farming
Adam wrote: I'm curious... apart from, perhaps, online weather forecasts and market conditions, how do you use your computer(s) in your work? Farmers use computers just like any business would. Book keeping, record keeping, spreadsheets, invoices, whatever a business would use a computer for, so... 8 Oct 2007 19:49

All: Sometimes, when I am burning some mp3 files onto a DVD, the burn will fail. After that, I find that some of these badly burned DVDs won't mount properly on my Mandriva Linux 2007 OS. I then have to reboot into my Windows 2000 OS in order to read at least some of the DVD so I can save that part. Is ther... 9 Oct 2007 09:19
Salts

"Seasonable" means appropriate for the season, for the place being discussed. It's more often used as "unseasonably." For example, where I l... 19 Oct 2007 19:09
Temperature Sensors (was: [OT] Batteries)
Thanks, everybody, for all your valuable information! I hope nobody minds if I pull all the discussion about system temperatures and temperature sensors into a separate thread, since it /is/ about a specific topic, and I'd consider it on topic for this newsgroup (a.o.l.mandrake). So here's my reply to all the rec... 6 Oct 2007 21:55

Salts (was Batteries)
Moe Trin wrote: Some people talk about taking things with a grain of salt. Some userland applications require more than that - and I'm on a reduced sodium diet. Not to worry. The original aphorism was to "take with a grain of salts." The salts in question were Epsom salts, still available as a purgative or ... 4 Oct 2007 11:14
