Just tried to install Mandriva 2006 on my new PC.

Athlon x2 4800, 2GB, 2x Sata-2 drives, ASUS A8N SLI-SE 'board.

I have installed Mandriva many times. This time in install hung very
early on at the installing SATA drivers stage. Are there any tricks to
getting it installed or do I have to wait until the next version?

TIA.

FWIW, there does not seem to be a problem with the 64-bit free (3CD
edition), just the 32-bit DVD.

Have you tried passing noapic nolapic to the installer before starting
install? You can do this by pressing F1 when the first window comes up
during install...

Try to unset any raid function in the softraid bios setup. Toggle APIC
settings (maybe try boot parameters nolapic or even noacpi). Switch
IDE/SATA order.

There's a bug in the driver. You have to go into your BIOS and
disable any SATA controllers that don't have a drive connected.
