From: Going Insane <Going on 25 Sep 2005 07:57 I have a RCA (thomason) Cable modem, which works fine. I am connected to the internet, no problem. I bought a motorola router and installed it with no problems, had an xbox hooked up and a laptop, then my computer crashed and I had to reinstall windows. Now, I cant get the router to work. The ethernet connection on my pc (when enabled) says that the network cable is unplugged. When I went to install the router, I followed their instructions very carefully and did all the steps in order. I am finding that when my ethernet is enabled it will detect and 'update' the router sucessfully. Heres my problem, when the ethernet is enabled, my modem doesnt work, the only address that will come up in the browser is the router configurations. I am unable to connect to the internet untill i disable the ethernet port. either way, my xbox says it is unable to locate the DNS. I have looked and looked for some help on this, I've done the ping thing, configip, removed my firewall, and all types of stuff. I'm at my wits end. Someone please help. I have xp professional. I'm sure I left out some information needed.
