From: Repe on 10 Jan 2008 04:42 Got a car model in 3ds Max (sp1). When I export the model with the Shockwave export, the model looks otherwise ok, but all materials applied are missing and car is colored with light pink. Material type for most materials used is "Raytrace". I noticed that if I build a new material with "Standard" type, then this material appears correctly when the model is exported. Does somebody know if only the "Standard" material type is supported when exporting from the 3ds Max to Shockwave? Relevant URL pointers are also appreciated as I didn't find any relevant information on the Internet. -repe
From: Mike Blaustein on 10 Jan 2008 07:03 Raytrace materials are not supported by shockwave3d. Only Phong materials are supported. No reflections, no bumpmaps, no refraction. When you are in the MAX exporter, there is an option to show the errors that occur during the export. Check it out. It will tell you each thing that is not exported and why. Here is a technote about how to export things properly... check out the Shaders section for the answer to your specific question. http://www.adobe.com/support/director/work_3d/models_use_in_sw/models_use_in_sw09.html
