Forgive me for reposting this, but I had hijacked someone else's topic thinking
we were having the same problem but it turns out we weren't. This is a very
time-sensitive issue that needs to be resolved soon. Here is the background.

4 years ago, I developed a bunch of online CBTs for a client. They were going
to be taken by 3000+ people across Canada on computers with the exact same
desktop image running Windows 2000. They worked beautifully...still do.

Fast forward to today. The firm is now about to upgrade to Windows XP (sp2 I
believe) firmwide. They have tested the CBTs (which haven't changed) and they
are getting memory errors. Specifically the error reads:

ssclox01.aam: webplr.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "0x00180000" referenced memory at "0x0625ea9c". The memory
could not be "written".

Click OK to terminate the program
Click CANCEL to debug the program

These errors are not happening in the same place. They seem to be random.

The CBTs were created in AW 6.5. I have since upgraded the webplayer to 2004
and a course to AW7.0 and gotten the same error.

When I originally created the CBTs, in order for them to run properly, I had
to rename the XTRA file extensions from .x32 to .aab as per one of the
technotes on this site. This fixed a problem I was having then. Since then the
courses have been running fine, until now.

Obvisouly I think the problem has occured with the upgrade to Win XP.

Can anyone think of anything that may be causing this error and what I might
do to fix it?

You said before that the entire C drive was locked down, which may well
include the default profile directory where the player is trying to write.
Have you determined whether you can write to the default profile directory
on these machines? If not, have you used the registry key to redirect the
player to write somewhere they _can_ write?

I am not familiar with any XP-specific errors like this.

As I posted the other day, the only consistent error of this type that I
have encountered is where the Xtras from different versions of Authorware
have somehow been mixed into the the delivered files.

Have you tried deleting the Xtras on your server, the Xtras in your local
copies of the application, then using One Button Publishing to recreate a
whole new set of published files?

Obviously you'll want to try this on one lesson first, rather than all of
them :-)

I've cleared all xtras off the server and the application numerous times.
Still, no improvement.

Amy, I'm going to try your suggestion next I'm just having some issues with
the development server that houses all the courses.

The hits just keep on coming...

And you have made sure that the Xtras you then upload correctly match the
version of Authorware you are using?
