From: DougDumitru on 2 Dec 2007 21:08 My company has just been appointed a distributor for Mtron Flash drives. We look at these drives as examples of the "next generation solution" for high performance database and transactional servers. Being an engineer by training, I don't really like to trust manufacturer's spec sheets. So I have prepared a new white-paper with 1, 4, and 8 drive benchmarks for Mtron Flash Solid State Drives. The paper can be read at: http://mtron.easyco.com/news/papers/07-12-01_mtron-benchmarks.pdf Some highlights: Single Drive: Random reads: 512 bytes > 20,000 IOPS Linear reads: >110 MBps Random writes: 120 IOPS for bare drive, 15K IOPS w/ MFT driver Linear writes: >80 MBps 8 Drive Raid-5: 4K random reads, 40 threads, 54K IOPS (211 MBps) 256K random reads, 40 threads, 3K IOPS (759 MBps) All tests run on Linux 2.6.22 64-bit.
